Symbotix Chief Operations Officer
James (Jamie) G. Banwell, Jr. is President of James G. Banwell Jr., LLC and is Chief Operating Officer at Symbotix. At Symbotix, Jamie is responsible for leading strategic planning, business analytics execution and customer relationship and engagement. Through his role, Jamie is helping to drive Symbotix and its clients to IT-enabled care delivery transformation while helping them achieve and sustain extraordinary clinical, financial, and operational advancements.
Most recently, Jamie provided interim executive leadership for the Enterprise Informatics and Analytics Program at the University of Chicago Medical Center (UCMC) where he led the planning, execution and delivery of multiple, concurrent, strategic solution bundles working with hospital leadership to reinvent how focused Program Management methods can complement UCMC’s Annual Operating Plan. Jamie guided several solution delivery cycles to success resulting in breakaway operational, clinical and financial results. He also led the effort to organize and drive positive changes to the cultural and investment governance of strategic information and performance management initiatives. He facilitated collaboration among business and clinical leaders across service lines within the academic medical center and University Biomedical Research division enabling an engaged and extensible operating model for pivotal data governance within the enterprise.
Prior to this engagement Jamie led the development of a strategic analytics platform for Aon Hewitt’s third party benefits administration division. The platform provided unique insights through integration of disparate information sources that previously had not been seamlessly connected. This provided a marked decrease in time to market for analysis and report development for customers both internal and external. Prior to Aon, he capably led the information technology, product strategy, and business partner relationship dimensions of a comprehensive business reinvention for a closely held, mid-market HR/Benefits Management Company. This engagement resulted in immediate value for all constituents through interoperable and interactive large employer benefit and annual HR open-enrollment solutions for CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield of Maryland and other firms such as AFLAC and WalMart.
Jamie has almost two decades of seasoned experience leveraging information technology to drive business operational, financial and organizational efficiency. He has hands-on experience across a multitude of industries including: logistics, energy, utility demand response, and healthcare (provider and payer). He also has led business process integration efforts resulting from corporate mergers and acquisitions.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia and has completed several post-graduate certification courses.
